As a concept-forward and research-based design consultancy, the practice is guided by its commitment to delivering spatial experiences with singular presence—grounded in context and true to their materiality. Each project is approached with openness: an understanding that buildings, landscapes, and people are dynamic, continuously evolving. OS offers project planning, design, (and occasional build ;) services with insight and experience in historic preservation, adaptive reuse, healthy and sustainable buildings, landscapes, custom interiors, and exhibition &amp; installation design. info@openstructure.us Artist In Vacancy https://openstructure.us/Artist-In-Vacancy Thu, 14 Mar 2019 23:36:45 +0000 openstructure https://openstructure.us/Artist-In-Vacancy ARTIST-IN-VACANCY <img width="4050" height="2700" width_o="4050" height_o="2700" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/058f692cab214c8b405effb962151a1dd0fca181a84f00b1e65e210d865db884/Broadway---Gonzalez-Gonzalez---Laura-Genes---Artist-In-Vacancy-2018.jpg" data-mid="37662787" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/058f692cab214c8b405effb962151a1dd0fca181a84f00b1e65e210d865db884/Broadway---Gonzalez-Gonzalez---Laura-Genes---Artist-In-Vacancy-2018.jpg" /> PHOTO BY YOSHIHIRO SERGEL ABOUT Artist-in-Vacancy (AIV) is a creative initiative of Newburgh Community Land Bank (NCLB) to address vacancy &amp; abandonment in Newburgh by re-imaginng vacant sites as places for community engagement, artistic production, aesthetic &amp; cultural research, and renewed inhabitation. Conceived in 2016 while Diana served as Design Director at NCLB, Artist-In-Vacancy moves into its 3rd year with the continued vision of bringing artists and the community together through projects that challenge spatial, psychological, political, socioeconomic, and local stigmas associated with vacant spaces throughout the city.
